Abstract
An analysis was conducted in this study to examine the effects of colleges students" job-seeking stress on their suicidal risk as well as mediated effects of depression. The subjects of the study were 734 students who were enrolled in 4 universities randomly selected out of those in Jeollabuk-do province. Adopted for the research was the path analysis through frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis.
Major findings of the analysis were: that the personality stress which caused job-seeking stress turned out to mediate depression, having indirect effect upon the suicidal risk, and that the home environment stress exerted not only direct but also indirect influence upon the suicidal risk by mediating depression. It was also found that the school work stress exercised indirect effect upon the suicidal risk by mediating depression and that the unstable job stress mediated depression influencing the suicidal risk indirectly.
The results of the study implied that it is practical to provide job-seeking students with differentiated suicide prevention services and to work out the programs to cure stress and depression of the students who are seeking jobs.
